The Hospital was named in honor of a great Freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu. Who was Sarojini Naidu:

Sarojini Naidu was one of the outstanding national leaders and was a source of strength to her colleagues and an inspiration to the young.

Sarojini Naidu was born in Hyderabad on 13th February 1879.
She loved the city of Hyderabad whose rich culture had mingled with her blood and she loved Urdu poetry.

While she made most of her public speeches in English, the Urdu language geld a fascination for her, and she was quite fluent in it. Her poetry of that period reflected her mood of ecstasy.

Sarojini Naidu passed her matriculation examination at the age of 12, standing first in the whole of the Madras Presidency. Later she was sent to England for higher studies. She attended King’s College in London and then the Girton College at Cambridge.

Sarojini Naidu had a meeting with Gandhiji in 1914, in London. That meeting finally decided the future course of her life. She had to take the plunge in public life. She did take the plunge and after that, there was no looking back.

Before entering national politics, Sarojini Naidu worked with Gandhiji as a volunteer in the struggle of Indians against the racist government of South Africa. After her return to India, she immediately joined the freedom movement.

Right from the beginning, she remained faithful to Gandhiji and the Indian National Congress. She addressed meetings of students and youth. She spoke at women’s meetings and mass gatherings in several cities and towns.

Sarojini Naidu became an all-India leader in no time. She came to be counted as an eminent leader of the Indian National Congress. She knew no fear & she knew no despair and is now known as a symbol of courage and fearlessness.
