Government of Telangana has been introduced a pension scheme name AASARA. This welfare scheme is eligible for OAP (old age persons), disabled people, widows, weavers, toddy tappers, HIV aids patients, filaria patients, beedi workers and single women.
Aasara pension scheme was started in the 2014 on 8th November by KCR (Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao) Chief Minister of Telangana State in Mahboobnagar. Telangana govt. is spending every year around 5500 cr on Aasara scheme.

On March 2015 Telangana government decided increase the monthly pension from Rs.200/- to Rs.1000/- for OAP (old age persons), widows, weavers, beedi workers, toddy tappers and AIDS patients. poor Beedi worker under Aasara Scheme from the month of March 2015 onwards.
The government also extended the financial assistance to Rs.1000/- per month to the poor Beedi worker under Aasara Scheme from the month of March 2015 onwards. The government also extended the pension amount from Rs.500/- to Rs.1500/- for PWD.
