Some 400 volunteers of Sri Kalki Manava Seva Samithi, a people’s movement, carried out cleaning activities at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) Imlibun, here on Sunday. It was held on the occasion of “Day of Oneness” which is observed across the world coinciding Birthday of Sri Kalki Bhagwan.
cleaning activities were held across the country in 20 States simultaneously involving one lakh volunteers investing three lakh man hours. Dr K. Laxman, BJP MLA from Musheerabad, Shanker Yadav, Corporator, Begum Bazar Nagaraju, Executive Director, TSRTC and Gangader, Regional Manager, TSRTC participated in the cleaning activity.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K Laxman said, “Swachh Bharat means it is not just cleaning your house. Your surroundings also must be clean and tidy. The spirit of cleanliness must continue all through the year. He also stressed upon the importance of constructing toilets in the school.
The initiative was a nationwide activity carried out simultaneously across 20 States by one lakh volunteers and investing three lakh manhours. The cities include Hyderabad, Delhi , Lucknow , Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneshwar Berhampur, Bhopal , Ahmedabad, Kolkata , Mangalore , Mysore, Bangalore, Vishakapatnam Vijayawada, Rajamahendravaram, Chennai, Coimbatore, Trivandrum, Indore , Surat and others.
The Samithi’s objective is to help people across India in bringing about a shift in their external world as well as the inner. The Samithi believes that in the process of affecting the external world, one undergoes an inner transformation. The Samithi consists of happy group of people, who intend to spread their joy by rendering their service to society in various forms. Some of its initiatives include 108 Village Projects.
The Samithi is focusing on creating a new society by laying the foundation at grass root level – the village. It has taken up the 108 village project for the development of the villages in all aspects. (NSS)
