Thinking of shopping?? It’s time to visit Abids a well known shopping area and one of the most famous business area of hyderabad. During the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, in the late 19th and early 20th century Abids or Abid Shop was a major commercial area in Hyderabad, India. The state government building TSFC, and the President Plaza are located here.
The whole Abids area is one of the main shopping centres in the city and the main street is known as Abid Road. The General Post Office headquarters is located in this area. Abids Pin Code is 500 001. The major businesses are hotels and shops for textiles, clothing, jewellery, footwear, and electronics. BSNL, the largest telecommunications provider in the city, has its headquarters located here.
The Greater Hyderabad Muncipal Corporation (GHMC) office is also located here, situated adjacent to the General Post Office(GPO).
The area is a major business hub and has lots of hotels for travelers interested in the businesses that serve Hyderabad and several government departments. Palace Heights Hotel and The Taj Mahal Hotel are the best in this area. Bombay Bakery & Restaurant is popular for Irani Chai and Bun, and it also serves some delicious items.
Some of the popular dressing stores like Chermas, Bulchand, Status, Big Boss, F.D.Khan & Sons, Dayal’s and Nisa Store are available in Abids. And when comes to footwear it is Metro Footwear the one which has huge collection of footwear, apart from this abids has Hollywood Footwear, City Life Style, Footprint and much more.
Famous cinema halls in this area are Ramakrishna Theater popularly known as RK Theater and Santosh Theater and some shopping malls like MPM Mall, Sanali Mall. The famous Jagdish market, a bustling grey market for mobiles and electronics, is also located here which includes huge amount of mobile stores which deals with both the new and second hand mobiles for a wide range of customers.
